Performing a preliminary assessment of the current situation is the first step, defining the issues, targets and boundaries of the engagement. During the diagnostics phase a more detailed understanding and first approaches are being developed. The design phase concludes with the presentation of the proposed solution. After formal approval, the interim manager takes responsibility for the implementation, managing activities, resources, and risks. The final step involves transferring knowledge, training a successor, handing over responsibilities, and sharing the lessons learnt in the process.
